Time Your Electric Usage and Save
by Patricia
(Grass Valley, California)
Electric companies charge more per kilowatt hour at certain times of the day. In my area we have the following rates:
high peak - 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. @ 14 cents pkh
low peak - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. 7 cents pkh
off peak 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. 4 cents pkh
I plan my biggest electric use such as running the dishwasher and the washing machine during the off peak hours.
GARY'S NOTE: Some of today's appliances have timers that you can set to run in the middle of the night, cheap and quiet.
Thank you Patricia
