I am planning to move to a much smaller place in a year, and I found some amazing potential Affirmations in your article. http://www.frugal-retirement-living.com/organizing-small-living-spaces.html I adapted it so it would be more personal for me, and thought you might like it, too. Apologies and all credits to the authors.

Organizing My Life and My Small Living Spaces...It's easy with a plan!

I give priority to organizing my life and my small living spaces. I know where my things are, and I keep only what I use.

Organizing my life and my small living spaces means that I always keep everything easily accessible, especially my vital items and papers.

Living with limited storage and living space means I need to be very careful to not clutter or over-shop.

Organizing my life and my things will help my family too, if anything happens to me.

My Storage and Filing Plan

When organizing my life and my small living and storage space I must first have a plan to organize the few things I keep.

To easily access my stored items I will make and use two inventory files of everything I own. This is very important since the smaller the space, the more important it is for me to know exactly what I have and where it is so I do not duplicate it or forget I what I already have.

My inventory files are essential when organizing my life and my small living spaces. I will refer to my inventory files frequently and update them as I shop and declutter.

In the first file, LOCATION, I will make a list of each general-to-specific location and storage area.

I will list each general location – Bedroom, kitchen, car, den, bathroom.

I will make a list of storage places in each location - dresser, closet, cabinet, shelves, car trunk, etc.

I will itemize every place and area in each location - each drawer, bin, shelf, left or right, top or bottom, and every nook and cranny.

I will list every item I put in those places. (So my pens will be listed - Den, yellow filing cabinet, bottom drawer, left.)

In the second file, INVENTORY, I will categorize and alphabetically list every item I own and its location. (So my pens will be listed - Stationary Supplies, P, pens - Den, yellow filing cabinet, bottom drawer, left.)

My Cleaning and Decluttering Plan

My life and limited storage areas are just too valuable to keep stuff I don't use.

I will divide all of my living and storage areas into 12, and focus on at least one area a month.

I will take everything out of one area's drawers, closets, or various nooks and crannies, and put it on the floor.

I will toss or donate what I do not use or need.

I will update my LOCATION and INVENTORY lists.

I will put everything back.

Every month I will do the same thing in a different area. Take everything out and put it back.

It is very doable as long as I give priority to my life and organizing my small living spaces...no matter how small.
